With enough account activity after creating an eBay account, sellers gain access to Promoted Listings: eBay’s suite of easy to use advertising solutions. But, did you know that you can lose that access based on your seller level?
eBay automatically assigns levels to all sellers based on how well they are performing. They’re used to help buyers shop with confidence and decide what sellers they want to buy from. Sellers who are performing well will get access to additional perks, however, sellers who fall below our standards may face a number of restrictions, including loss of access to Promoted Listings.
This is why it’s crucial for sellers to understand what it takes to maintain a positive seller level on eBay. Let’s dive into what each of the three seller levels are on eBay.
The three seller levels
At eBay, each seller is assigned one of three seller levels: Top Rated, Above Standard or Below Standard. Every new seller on eBay will automatically start at the Above Standard level. Each month, eBay reevaluates seller levels by looking back at the previous 12 months of sales activity. You’ll earn one of three rankings based on the results of this evaluation:
One of the underlying goals of being a seller on eBay should be earning the “Top Rated” seller level. Like any badge of honor, you’ll have to reach the high standards we’ve put in place to qualify for it. This includes:
- Having an eBay account that’s been active for at least 90 days
- Having at least 100 transactions and $1,000 in sales with U.S. buyers over the past 12 months
- Complying with eBay’s selling practices policy
- Meeting the requirements for transaction defect rate, cases closed without seller resolution, and late shipment rate
